Neighborhood Services- Burglary of Motor Vehicles
Burglary of Motor Vehicles continues to be the number one crime of opportunity in our community. On Sunday, August 3rd, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office took 14 reports of Motor Vehicle Burglary in the Northway and Windvale area of Alden Bridge. Most, if not all of the burglaries were from unlocked cars.
Please, lock your vehicles, remove any valuables from sight, and park in your garage when possible. Also, remember to lock your home and garage. TAKE AWAY THE OPPORTUNITY!
For additional information, please contact Neighborhood Services at 281.210.3800. If you have information on these crimes or want to report suspicious activity, please call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936.442.7797. |

After experiencing and hearing of several “duck-traffic” incidents last year, Jill Tagudin started a campaign to get duck signs at Cypress Lake in Alden Bridge as a community service project for Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church. The blind curve near Cypress Lake makes it an especially dangerous spot for both ducks and local traffic. Motorists are frequently surprised not only by ducks in the road, but also by other vehicles that have already stopped to allow ducks to cross. Her goals included raising community awareness of “duck-traffic” by posting warning signs and implementing a local “Duck-Traffic” Protocol, which has 3 steps:
1) Stop for ducks crossing road.
2) Use hazard lights to warn following traffic.
3) Flash headlights to warn approaching traffic.
Other ponds in The Woodlands are currently being evaluated for their possible need for warning signs. To help educate our own residents about ducks, and also to help other communities dealing with similar duck-traffic issues, Jill has created a web site: www.duckheroes.org. “Brake For Ducks” T-shirts are also being sold to help pay for the cost of the signs and promote the “Duck-Traffic” protocol. |

Today, the Board of Directors adopted a new logo from a contest developed just for residents. The Woodlands Township has a new look, thanks to Jeff Peterson, winner of The Woodlands Township’s Logo Contest. |

In recent months, the Community Associations have received number complaints about pet waste in the parks, pathways and in community member’s front yards. Pet waste is more than smelly and unsightly- it is a health risk to the environment, pets, people and children. Animal waste contains disease-causing pathogens and harmful chemicals and nutrients that when not properly disposed of impedes landscaping efforts and can wash down storm drains contaminating our local drinking water. Please be reminded that it is a common courtesy to pick up after your pet. Your actions set example for others. Tell friends and neighbors about the ill effects of animal waste on the environment and encourage them to clean up after pets.

It is important that residents report any criminal activity to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, since the report can affect patrol schedules, help with the return of recovered property, and aid in the prosecution of criminals.
